For more than 10 years, I’ve explored the latest and greatest technology for both flower industry businesses and fellow association peers through articles, peer-to-peer networking events, serving as a volunteer at American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and mostly through presentations at various industry events — check out Presentations section for session synopses, copies of the slides and handouts.
Let’s get real techie, how do I publish this mobile responsive website?
I not only preach about the virtues and benefits of open source software, I put it into personal practice. This website is based on WordPress installed with a free mobile-responsive theme running on a Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP or LAMP web server stack. The server is a Virtual Private Server (VPS) running on the ProxMox virtualization platform, managed using Virtualmin and Webmin running on a PC server under the office desk at my house I built from scratch using the following components:
- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5
- Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 4GB DDR3 (x6 for 24GB total)
- Storage: (4) WD VelociRaptor 500GB hard drives in RAID 5 configuration
- Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 800D
- Video card: N/A It’s a server!
Labor of love? Growing healthy, organic food for friends and family
When my hands aren’t in the guts of the server, they are dirty farming dirt. More on this in 2015!
