10 guests viewed the blog the moment it went live on Twitter. That was pretty amazing. And by immediate request, a Comment feature was added. I added the first free and native one I found at http://www.joomla.org called yvcomment. Talk about real simple feature!
I'm guessing since 1.5 is relatively new, developers haven't had a chance to thoroughly test and deply a comment component that is "native." Much of the stuff I found was "legacy" for 1.5. I will most probably upgrade with a more feature rich comment system so don't get too attached to anything you post! More on yvcomment after the jump.
yvComment is the first native Joomla! 1.5 Commenting solution, and it's free. It has two required 'parts' (extensions): component + plugin, - and a lot of optional extensions (yvComment Module is optional also), so the resulted solution may be very simple or not - as You wish. yvComment supports Captcha (secret word) extensions, Smileys, BBCodes, Avatars/Gravatars, WYSIWYG editor and many content plugins and tools, designed to work with Articles of Joomla! (e.g. Email Cloaking, GeSHi). yvComment allows users to add comments to Articles (and Comments to Comments also). Comments may be stored in the same table, as other content (and treated as special type of Articles), or in their own table. (Read more on the Homepage)
What's new in v.1.18.0: 1. Added very flexible and context-sensitive "yvcomment" module, that uses the same MVC code of yvComment, as plugin and component. This module is preconfigured as 'Latest comments', but may be something more... 2. Language packs are rebult: now yvComment has single language file to avoid duplication.
What's new in v.1.17.0: 1. Added "Auto close comments after specified number of days" option. Setting this option disables addition of new comments to the old articles, but it doesn't prevent registered users from correcting or updating their outdated information in old entries. 2. Added "Show 'Please register'" option (after many questions about how to do this...). If set to 'yes', yvComment shows message 'Please register or login to add your comments to this article' in article view, if addition of comments is allowed for this Article, but not allowed for this User. 3. Seven (!) new translations were added since previous release.
