Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah is famous for its unique geology of red rock spires and horseshoe-shaped amphitheaters. Because Bryce transcends 2000 feet (650 m) of elevation, the park exists in three distinct climatic zones: spruce/fir forest, Ponderosa Pine forest, and Pinyon Pine/juniper forest.
These photos were taken in May 2003 with a Canon PowerShot G2. Patricia and I started our drive at 4am to catch the sunrise and get some good early morning light for the shots. We were very surprised to get caught in an early morning snow storm which dusted the ground white in the early morning hours. It was a pleasant sight but considering we were dressed in shorts and light jackets, it wasn't the best of conditions.
This will be my second year serving on ASAE & The Center’s Technology Section Council. I also finished a one-year term with the Young Professionals Committee. So although it was great to hear summaries from the various chairs about their group’s activities for the past year, it was particularly satisfying listening to Tech chair Bron Prokuski’s summary of the council’s successes such as the growing Technology Conference and the best practices initiative. I’ve devoted much time serving as a presenter for the last conference and excited to contribute in the upcoming conference in January presenting a session on Virtualization and sitting on a panel about Championing New Technologies with fellow young professionals.

Beginning in the Fall of 2007 through this year, I served on ASAE & The Center's Young Professional's Committee (YPC) for its inaugural year as a standing committee. And truth be told. I miss it. I'd been a member of ASAE for quite some time but it wasn't until last year I decided to step up and volunteer. It was a perfect storm of my naiveté regarding ASAE volunteer duties and zeal that I signed up to serve simultaneously on both on YPC and the Technology Section Council. I sacrificed some quality time with my kid, some golf and personal hobby time but in retrospect it was worth it. I made a ton of friends and contacts, learned a great deal and shared some as well. Do it again? Not. I now only serve on the Council.
What do I miss about serving on the YPC?

The SAF 2008 Convention officially came to a close this evening. Patricia and I just got back to our room after attending the President's Ball, the last official event. Wow, I'm tired. However, as promised, I'd like to post the list of floral blog topics attendees put together during the my Blogosphere session earlier today. I've also posted many of the materials at Blogosphere resource page at http://www.safnow.org/blogosphere
If you were not able to attend the session but would like to contribute to this list, please add a comment! I will certainly add your submission once I receive it. You can always

I'll post the same list on the Blogosphere resource page first thing tomorrow. I'm off to sleep but look for a slew of posts from the Blogosphere session as well as other convention educational sessions and meeting in the coming days! Goodnight!

I've never thought myself to be sentimental or nostalgic. But I've come to realize that you at times need to embrace your past to grow personally and professionally in the present. I guess this is the essence of proudly proclaiming yourself as an Alumnus of your alma mater.
The Concordia University Alumni Association officially launched a Washington DC chapter (CUAA DC) last night at the Canadian Embassy on Pennsylvania Avenue in DC. Click here for photos of the CUAA DC Inaugural Event. This event was the culmination of planning and hard work over two very fun dinners and countless e-mail exchanges by the Washington DC chapter executive including myself serving as Vice President of Communications. My fellow Alumni and now good friends serving on the Executive include: Thérèse Morin, MBA 86, Chapter President,James Byrnes, BA 97, Vice President of Programs, Lisa Morgan, BA 89, Vice President of Administration, Secretary and Treasurer, Zoran Kahric, BEng 97, Event Coordinator and Paul Tuscano, BEng 00, Event Coordinator.
