Welcome! Thanks much for visiting my blog. I'm the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Society of American Florists (SAF), a non-profit organization that serves the entire U.S. floriculture and ornamental horticulture industry. SAF members include floral retailers, wholesalers, importers, manufacturers and suppliers. At SAF, I serve on the organization's Executive Management Team and liaison for SAF's Retailers Council and Technology Committee.
My core technology expertise includes strategic information technology planning, system architecture and build, system security, Web site development, search engine optimization, open-source software, AJAX development, social media, online publishing systems, datacenter virtualization, technology trends and statistics and personal gadget technology.
I'm also an active member in the association community serving as member of ASAE & The Center's Technology Section Council and former member and current Ad-hoc volunteer for the Young Professional Committee. Serving in these volunteer roles, I've gladly shared my knowledge through presentations at ASAE & The Center's Technology Conference and Annual Meeting on a variety of technology topics, contributed to organization's wiki, Associapedia, and penned several articles and served as guest editor for ASAE & The Center's flagship techology publication, TechnoScope.
On my personal time, I enjoy spending massive quality time with my son Raphael and wife Patricia as well as golfing, sailing, hiking, rollerblading, boating, fishing, ballroom dancing, playing piano and guitar, tennis, exploring history, crafting bonsai, art history, eco-friendly technology, photography, gardening, architecture, travel and landscaping.
I'm a graduate of Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, where I studied Psychology and Broadcast Journalism and earned a Bachelors degree in 1994. I'm a founding member and currently serve as Vice President of Communications for Concordia University's Alumni Washington DC Chapter.
